Has anyone been to the Mast General Store?

One of my friends recently returned from a trip to South Carolina where she visited with family. On the trip, they stopped at Mast General Store and she posted a picture of it on her blog. When I saw it, my first thought was "OMG, I've been there". Little did I know, there are actually several Mast General Stores located in NC, SC, and TN.

A couple of years ago, I went to visit my friends mom in Boone, NC. We went sightseeing and one of the places that she took us was the Mast General Store. When you step into the store, you feel like you've just stepped back into the 1950's. It's filled with hundreds of antiques along with a variety of items that you might find in a General Store. According to their website, the original focus for them was to carry "all of the items that a neighbor might need" from plows to cloth and "Cradles to Caskets". That's changed a little over the years, but one thing that has stayed the same is the old time candy and flavored sodas.

So, my question to you today is "How Many of you have been to the Mast General Store and what is your favorite item?"

No time to tan this week

Oh, how I wish I had a Tanning Bed in my home. It would make things so much easier on weeks when am I crazy busy. My joints are killing me and I have been working so much that I simply haven't had time to go to the tanning salon. They have one of those awesome Sunquest Tanning Beds that is only 12 minutes and by the time you get out, you just feel so energized. One of the apartment communities here in OC has one of those too. You can use it free if you live there. If I was renting, I would most definitely live there.

Ready for Bike Week to be over

As Bike Week is coming to a close, I am becoming more and more exhausted. I didn't even want to get out of bed this morning and then I realized that my bbar hostess was going to run out of paper plates and I was supposed to be bringing them in. As I arrived at 8:30 after dragging myself out of bed, I noticed that we had a parking situation again due to the large number of trucks with trailers and even an RV that was taking up 8 spaces. I don't know why these people think that it is ok for them to take up so many spaces and then leave people that have 1 car or 1 Bike with nowhere to park. Basically this week, I have had to play parking enforcer in addition to my normal job duties. I never thought I'd say it, but I will be happy when Bike Week is over.

Walk In Bathtubs in Hotels

It's official, Bike Week has gotten off to a very successful start and we have been sold out or close to it 5 out of the last 7 nights. Tonight, we were sold out with the exception of a handicap accessible room with one of the Walk In Bathtubs . When I talked to my front desk clerk a little while ago, he had just sold the room. Most people might think that this room might be kind of awkward, but I have stayed in this room before and found that the Walk In Bathtub is very nice and makes it easy to get into if you have balance problems or you have some sort of injury. Our walk in shower room is very similar to the Polystone 3 x 5 Handicapped shower. This unit is complete with walls, shower base, ramp Handicapped shower and has an easily accessible 8" entry ramp.

Other options are the Diamond Elite Plus with a low 1-inch-high entry. This unit is 3-times thicker and stronger than any other walk in bath tub. It comes with all the fixtures and is priced lower than walk-in tubs of lower qualities. Walk-in tubs are perfect for the elderly, those in therapy or physically challenged. Made of high quality fiberglass these easy install units have an optional whirlpool system.

Totally Vintage and Chic

I just found this great Bespoke Silk Scarf Chanel Chair on Stylehive. It's made of vintage silk designer scarves that give the high-profile treatment to a low-profile slipper chair. Each chair is individually engineered to the three scarves that make it up, so overall dimensions will vary. One of the water jet cut lucite legs features an etched signature from the designer. I was reading in Glamour the other day about how to turn your apartment into a grownups apartment. This would certainly do it. I love the bright colors and the funky design of the chair. Just imagine how one hot little piece of furniture could transform a blah apartment into something retro chic.

This chair wouldn't really fit my decor but it would look great in a trendy apartment in Manhattan or Boston. I can totally see something like this in Whitney's apartment on "The City". Can't you just imagine it?

Do guys still give Promise Rings?

When I was in high school, I received a Promise Ring from my boyfriend. It was just a cute little gold ring with 2 hearts intertwined. I loved the ring and thought it was so cool that my boyfriend actually bought me a ring instead of just giving me his class ring. Actually, I got two. I got one from my first boyfriend and one from my second boyfriend. After that I don't know what happened, because I haven't gotten a ring since. lol

I ran across one of the rings the other day in my jewelry box, and it made me think. I wonder if guys still give Promise Rings? Well, let me tell you. Yes, they do and wow are they different from the Promise Rings from the 80's and early 90's. Nowadays they resemble engagement rings but they have Cubic Zirconia instead of diamonds. Since silver and white gold became more popular in the late 90's, the ones today are made of Sterling Silver instead of yellow gold. Plus the prices are still reasonable for a young guy's wallet.

Girls Next Door Finale

How many of you are Girls Next Door fans? The Girls Next Door finale is tonight and I of course will be watching it. I have been watching the show for 3 years now and will really miss it. Bridgette is my favorite but I love them all. I know that Holly really loves Hef but she wants a family and you can't blame her for that. It will be a sad show tonight but it's nice to see that they are all 3 moving on to something great.

I guess it's not really the finale, but it definitely won't be the same.

Herbal Immune Boosters

What if you could actually lower your risk of cancer by taking an herbal supplement? What about lowering your cholesterol without the harmful side effects of prescription drugs? Greenpath Supplements offers a beta glucan that not only works as an immune booster but can also enhance the effectiveness of other antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, and anti-parasitic medications. Each bottle of beta-glucan is proven to be 90% pure, and is sodium, lactose, and gluten-free. Another benefit is that beta-glucan can also reduce your risk of heart disease. I had never heard of this supplement before, but it's definitely something worth looking into.

Shopping is Exercise

When I was younger, I used to go shopping with my mom practically every weekend. When I moved to Florida, I didn't really have anyone to go with so my weekly shopping expeditions ceased to exist. Since losing weight, I decided that I need to go shopping this weekend for some new clothes. I went with my friend Niki and we went to two different malls and shopped for 5 hours. That is 5 hours of aerobic activity folks. By the time I got home my feet were hurting and I was exhausted. I woke up this morning and I was a little stiff, but my feet were feeling better and I felt like I actually did something yesterday. The diet is going really well and when I update this week, I will have surpassed one of goals. I think I've already done it but I want it to be official.. One thing that is already official is that I have already lost a whole size and I'm well on my way to the next one.
