Merry Christmas to you and yours

I hope everyone is enjoying this Christmas Day. It's in the 80's here in Central Florida and I had a fabulous Christmas Dinner up at my mom and dad's house. My brother drove in on Friday night and I hadn't seen him in over 4 years, so it was nice to have all us in one house for a change. However, it would have been even better if I had kids here this Christmas. Oh well, there's always next year and hopefully I will be closer to adoption by that time. At least I have my boys to keep me company and they sure did enjoy their Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers turkey dinner. Now, they are sleeping in their chair. :)
Lots of good things coming up on the blog this week. I'm in the Christmas Letdown Giveaway Hop starting tonight at 12:01, so be sure you check that out. Plus, don't forget to enter my 1000 Fan Giveaway and the Simply Orange Juice Giveaway. Be sure to check out the Important Announcements section of my blog for the latest contest announcements.

Gestures of GoodWill

This time of year is especially hard for families in need so it's always nice to see people doing things to help those that are less fortunate. Whether it's the Central Florida families that are homeless due to job loss, children in the foster care system or simply those who find themselves on hard times it's nice to see so many people giving back. As you know, I am in the foster program so I frequently browse Freecycle.org in my community looking for people who are getting rid of kids clothes or toys; so can you imagine my surprise and delight when I started seeing a large number of posts for people offering NEW toys for both boys and girls. At first I thought it was just one person that maybe bought too much or no longer needed the toys for some reason, but then I noticed that there were multiple user ids posting about new toys, stocking stuffers, wrapping paper, etc. Now I never saw a post go out suggesting that people do this, but it appears to me that these people just brought it on themselves to help make someones Christmas a little brighter. When I realized what was happening, it actually brought tears to my eyes because I can only imagine how someone who is really struggling might feel if they saw those posts offering FREE gifts. So, from the bottom of my heart, I applaud those people that took it upon themselves to help make Christmas a little brighter for some of the children in our community. Santa's Florida vacation is over!!!

It looks like Santa's Florida vacation is finally over. I just checked out his location on the Santa Tracker and it looks like he's hard at work delivering toys in Senegal.
Looks like he will be back in Florida to all the good girls and boys in a few hours. Hope you've got those cookies ready!

3 Months until Christmas

Wow, it just hit me! It's 3 months until Christmas! At this time in December, I will be at my parents home in Indiana if I can afford to buy a plane ticket that is. I am planning on buying my parents a GPS system for the new car because they are planning on traveling a lot when my mom retires next year. I have no idea what I will get for my brother, but I'm sure I will think of something. A gift card might be good. I figured out what I am going to do for the girls. You know I've been shopping the deals at CVS and Walgreens, so between now and Christmas any great deals that I get on makeup or things that they might like will go into a gift bag so that they have lots of small items. One of the things that I already got for them was a bottle of Revlon Nail Polish, which was absolutely free. I love CVS!

They will never know how much their gifts actually "cost".
