Credit Cards for College Students

When I was in college back in 1992, I got my first credit card through an on campus program specifically for students. I wish that I would have been smart enough to deal with it but I wasn't and I soon had a credit card balance that I had no way of paying and was well on my way to a bad credit rating before my 21st birthday. They say it takes 7 years for bad credit to fall off, but for me it seemed like so much longer. When I graduated I was already in debt for purchasing things that I didn't need and the only thing that I had to show for it was my credit card statements and some pretty good memories. If you are considering college student credit cards, I strongly urge you to think before you buy. If you are using your credit cards for books or other necessary expenses that's different, but please be careful with the companies that you choose. Be well advised of all fees, interest rates, and terms before applying for those cards. It's a good idea to have a credit card for emergency, so if you must get a credit card check them out. Do your due dilligence. StudentCreditCards.com is a resource that enables students to learn about and apply for student credit cards. Visitors can browse credit cards for students and choose a credit card right for their own needs.

I really advice the college students to steer clear of the many CC companies wanting their business, like you I got caught in that trap.
