With 2011 winding down, I start thinking about the memorable things that have happened this year both personally and worldwide. I will start with the worldwide events.
For me, the Royal Wedding has to be BY FAR the most memorable event of the year. It brought back memories of when I was a little girl and I watched Princess Diana marry Prince Charles and seeing Kate marry Will made every little girl's dream of one day becoming a princess finally come true. She's just an ordinary woman who met and fell in love with her Prince Charming. Can't get much better than that!
The second most memorable event for me would be the end of the Space Shuttle program. Being from Central Florida and having formerly worked at KSCVC, I have been as close as one person could be to a launch and it was really sad for me to see it end. Check out my post from the Last Launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis.
The third most memorable event for me would have to be the death of Elizabeth Taylor. It was kind of the end of the Old Hollywood Era that I love so much. Anyone who knows me, knows that I'm a huge fan of Old Hollywood (Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, etc) and Elizabeth Taylor fit right in with that.
The fourth most memorable for me and not for good reasons was the Casey Anthony trial. I felt very strongly about her being guilty and to see her being let free to possibly get pregnant and kill another child sickened me. I still feel very strongly that we need to abstain from buying any books or watching any movies about Casey Anthony.
So, tell me... What was your most memorable world event from 2011?

The US leaving Iraq. It meant my husband didn't have to deploy as scheduled and was home for Christmas!! (This is Amy Self)
Definitely Elizabeth Taylor passing away. She was such an original spirit. --- Mailyn Moore

I'd say the US leaving Iraq, that's definitely a big one! Osama being found & killed also a big one!
The Royal Wedding was beautiful, was it not, millions of dollars were spent on the replicated engagement ring.
The space shuttle program being cancelled is horrible...period. As my opinion it is based on economical and political poppy-cock I will not get on my bandwagon about that. You know the phrase...religion & politics.
Sad, sad, sad, about Elizabeth Taylor. What an illustrious career by one of America's most beautiful women, she will be remembered.
I also followed the Casey Anthony trial. I too, believe she was either guilty or new something. It breaks my heart to hear of all the crimes against children.
Very nice post...Thank You for sharing!

You brought up some good memorable moments for 2011. I know the one that came to mind for me was the Casey Anthony trial. Although I did not watch much of the trial it was all over the media and affected a lot of people. Osama Bin Laden would also be a memorable moment, we finally got to bring our troops home. Here's to a good 2012!
I would have to say the royal wedding and the Casey Anthony trial are high up there on the list!
soldiers coming home
