Social Media Marketing Today

Social Media Marketing/Social Networking is becoming more and more mainstream. Everyday I hear people talking about it, I'm using it, my friends are using it, my competition is using, but are we really using it effectively? I attended a seminar this week and it really got me thinking. If we have 500 friends and we update daily and none of those 500 people are paying attention, did we really accomplish anything? Not really... However, if we focus on creating an effective sphere of influence by networking with other Facebook or Social Media users to effectively share information, we are not only marketing to our friends but to their friends as well. The most effective and successful Social Media Marketers are doing exactly that. So, my challenge to you is this... Find a way to network with 5-10 Facebook users who are your current "friends" and challenge them to "share" information on a regular basis. By doing this, you have effectively increased your sphere of influence and will hopefully be seen by not just your friends, but theirs as well. Wouldn't it be great, if they set up a network as well, and then their friends did the same. To get started, it might be a good idea to offer an incentive like a contest or something to create buzz. Be creative, have fun and let me know how you do.

My Top 3 Ways to Increase Page Rank for any Website

Blogging is the single most effective and easiest way to drive traffic. Make sure that when you are blogging that you are creating tags, so that people can easily find related posts. You will also want to use an RSS feed(this feeds all posts to their email or yahoo or google homepage)to drive traffic. RSS feeds to submit to would be BlogCatalog, MyBlogLog, and Bumpzee. Those are the 3 that I use.

Social Bookmarking is a great way to increase the number of visitors to your blog or website, and by increasing the number of visitors it is highly possible to increase the number of links back to an article or blog post. Social bookmarking is easy to do with websites such as ping.fm or onlywire.com.

Squidoo is another great way to increase page rank. By creating lenses about certain topics and linking back to your website or blog you will increase traffic. Take it a step further and post in the forums to drive traffic even more. Plus with Squidoo, you can actually make money on the traffic that you drive to your lenses. The more traffic, the more money you will make.
