It's technical

When I was in Indiana, I worked in an automotive components factory for awhile in the Accounting Department. Every quarter we had to do a full factory inventory and it would take at least day but usually two. Back then everything was handwritten and then once the counts were taken someone had to come back to the office and then key everything into the computer. Nowadays things are completely different. Inventories are still taken, but now they have handheld computers that are used to do much of the hard work. No longer do you have to go back and key everything in, once you have scanned the item that's it. It is then ready for a simple download. For larger items, there are also fixed Vehicle computers that can be used in mobile warehouse and inventory-control applications common to material handling equipment and industrial vehicles such as forklifts and hostlers.

If you are using a wireless network, you will want to be sure that you have some sort of wlan security to protect your devices and communication.

An rfid antenna vehicle mount can deliver the ultimate mobility in supply chain management without having to change your current process. Instead of moving material to read it, you can read it while it is being moved – at the dock, on the warehouse floor, in the trailer or in the yard.

Things have definitely changed since my days of factory work and it appears that this sort of technology is crucial to efficient operations.
